2 Days in Nashik for a Nature Getaway
Nashik isn't just about temples and vineyards - it's surrounded by some of Maharashtra's most beautiful natural spots. I've spent weekends here just soaking in the greenery, and this itinerary covers my favorite peaceful escapes close to the city. You'll get to explore waterfalls, lakes, and hills without spending hours on the road.

Day 1
Day 1 in Nashik
A mix of nature, spirituality, and local flavors in Nashik, starting with the iconic Sula Vineyards, followed by the serene Pandavleni Caves, and ending with a sunset by the Godavari River.
Activities
Sula Vineyards Tour
Kick off your day with a visit to India's most famous winery. Sula Vineyards offers guided tours where you can stroll through lush vineyards, learn about winemaking, and taste some of their best wines. The setting is picturesque, with the Gangapur Dam in the backdrop.
- Book the tour in advance online to skip the queue.
- Try their signature Chenin Blanc or Zinfandel.
Pandavleni Caves Hike
Head to the ancient Pandavleni Caves, a cluster of 24 rock-cut Buddhist caves dating back to the 1st century BC. The short hike up is rewarding, with panoramic views of Nashik and intricate carvings inside the caves. Cave 3 and Cave 18 are particularly impressive.
- Wear comfortable shoes for the hike.
- Carry water as there are no shops nearby.
Sunset at Ramkund
Wrap up your day by the sacred Ramkund, a bathing ghat on the Godavari River. Locals believe a dip here washes away sins. The evening aarti (prayer ceremony) is a serene experience, with lamps floating on the river and priests chanting hymns. The nearby streets buzz with small eateries serving hot snacks.
- Respect the religious customs—avoid loud conversations.
- Try the piping hot 'kande pohe' (flattened rice) from nearby stalls.

Activities
Morning at Trimbakeshwar Temple
Start your day with a visit to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The ancient Trimbakeshwar Temple, nestled near the Brahmagiri hills, has a serene vibe and intricate stone carvings. The early morning aarti is a peaceful experience, with the sound of bells and chants filling the air. Don’t miss the Kushavarta Kund, a sacred tank where devotees take a dip.
- Dress modestly as it’s a religious site
- Carry a small towel if you plan to dip in the kund
Hike to Anjaneri Fort
If you’re up for some adventure, head to Anjaneri Fort, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. The moderate hike takes about 2 hours one way, with stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The fort ruins and the small temple at the top make the climb worthwhile. The trail is shaded in parts, but mornings are the best time to go.
- Wear sturdy shoes—the trail can be rocky
- Carry enough water and snacks
Lunch and Local Market Stroll
Head back to Nashik city for a late lunch at a local eatery. Try the famous Nashik Misal Pav, a spicy curry with sprouts and bread, or the thali at a traditional Maharashtrian restaurant. After eating, take a relaxed walk through the Saraf Bazaar area, known for its silver jewelry and local handicrafts. It’s a great place to pick up souvenirs or just soak in the bustling market vibe.
- Try Misal Pav at Hotel Panchavati or Sai Krupa
- Bargain politely if shopping in the market
