2 Days in Baga for a Nature Getaway
Baga is more than just beaches and nightlife—it’s a great spot to connect with nature if you know where to look. Over two days, you can explore hidden trails, serene backwaters, and quiet spots away from the crowds. I’ve spent plenty of time here, and these are my favorite ways to enjoy Baga’s natural side.

Day 1
Day 1 in Baga
A perfect introduction to Baga with its famous beach, vibrant markets, and delicious seafood.
Activities
Morning at Baga Beach
Start your day with the golden sands and gentle waves of Baga Beach. It's one of the most popular beaches in Goa, known for its lively vibe and water sports. Try parasailing or jet skiing if you're feeling adventurous, or just relax under a beach umbrella with a fresh coconut.
- Bargain for water sports; prices are often negotiable.
- Carry cash as some beach shacks don’t accept cards.
Explore Baga River and Backwaters
Take a short boat ride along the Baga River to see the serene backwaters and mangroves. You might spot local fishermen at work or even some colorful kingfishers. It’s a peaceful contrast to the bustling beach.
- Wear a hat and sunscreen; the sun can be strong even on the water.
- Ask the boat operator for a short detour to see the old Portuguese-style houses along the riverbanks.
Lunch at a Beachfront Shack
Head back to Baga Beach for lunch at one of the iconic beach shacks. Try the grilled lobster or Goan fish curry with steamed rice. The shacks here are known for their fresh seafood and laid-back atmosphere.
- Ask for the catch of the day—it’s always the freshest.
- Try the Goan classic 'Bebinca' for dessert if you have a sweet tooth.

Day 2
Day 2 in Baga
A mix of nature and local culture, exploring Baga beyond the beach with a visit to a spice plantation, a hidden waterfall, and ending with a Goan feast.
Activities
Spice Plantation Tour
Head to Sahakari Spice Farm, a short drive from Baga, for a sensory overload. Walk through lush plantations of cardamom, vanilla, and black pepper, learning about organic farming. The tour ends with a traditional Goan buffet lunch served on banana leaves.
- Wear comfortable shoes for walking on uneven paths.
- Bargain for spices if you plan to buy—they make great souvenirs.
Dudhsagar Waterfall Detour
If you're up for a longer drive, Dudhsagar Waterfall is worth the trip. The cascading falls are stunning, especially post-monsoon. You can take a jeep ride through the jungle to reach the base. It’s a bit of a trek, but the views are unforgettable.
- Carry swimwear if you want to take a dip in the pool below the falls.
- Weekdays are less crowded than weekends.
Sunset at Chapora Fort
End the day with a short hike up Chapora Fort, famous for its 'Dil Chahta Hai' movie connection. The ruins offer panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and Chapora River. It’s less crowded than Aguada Fort and perfect for sunset photos.
- Wear sturdy shoes—the path is rocky.
- Bring water—there are no shops at the top.
