Activities
Ross and Smith Islands
These twin islands connected by a natural sandbar are the crown jewels of Diglipur. The crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand make it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The sandbar appears during low tide, letting you walk between the islands-a surreal experience. Bring your own snorkel gear if possible, as rentals are limited.
- Pack snacks and water-there are no shops on the islands
- Wear reef shoes-the coral can be sharp
Kalipur Beach Turtle Nesting
If you're visiting between December and April, don’t miss the chance to see Olive Ridley turtles nesting at Kalipur Beach. Local conservation groups organize night walks (with minimal disturbance to the turtles). Even outside nesting season, it’s a quiet, beautiful beach with black volcanic sand-a rare sight in the Andamans.
- No flash photography-it disturbs the turtles
- Wear dark clothing to blend in during nesting walks

Day 3
Day 3 in Diglipur
A laid-back day exploring Diglipur's hidden gems and local culture, with a mix of nature and authentic experiences.
Activities
Morning at Lamiya Bay
Start your day at this secluded beach, far from the crowds. The shallow waters and soft sand make it perfect for a quiet swim or just lounging. Keep an eye out for rare seashells-locals say you might even spot a turtle if you're lucky. The bay is surrounded by lush greenery, giving it a peaceful, untouched vibe.
- Bring water and snacks-there are no shops nearby
- Wear sturdy sandals; the path to the beach can be rocky
Visit to Pathi Level Village
Head to this quaint village to see how the locals live. The villagers are known for their handmade bamboo crafts, and you can watch artisans at work. If you're lucky, you might catch a traditional Nicobari dance performance-ask around, as these are impromptu and usually happen in the late morning. Don't miss the small village temple, which has a unique blend of local and Hindu influences.
- Carry small change for buying handmade souvenirs
- Ask before taking photos of villagers-some prefer privacy
Lunch at a Local Home Kitchen
Skip the restaurants and opt for a home-cooked meal at a local's house. Many families in Diglipur open their kitchens to visitors, serving dishes like fresh crab curry, steamed fish wrapped in banana leaves, and tangy tamarind chutney. It's a great way to taste authentic flavors and chat with locals about their way of life. Most places don't advertise-ask your homestay host or a villager for recommendations.
- Let them know in advance if you have dietary restrictions
- Try the local 'panta bhat' (fermented rice)-it's an acquired taste but very traditional
